Mbuso Makhubela's debut in professional football!

Talent among our scholars soar far and wide from our stages, classrooms and our fields. Mbuso showcases how dreams can be a reality. From a young boy with a dream to a player that made it a reality with hard work and dedication. Mbuso took his position on the field and etched a mark on the Penryn hall of fame.

Here are some words from the player himself and the feeling behind all the glitz and glamour.

How did it feel to be signed as a professional footballer with TS galaxy?

“It was a surreal moment. I didn’t know how to react initially. The excitement and disbelief was overwhelming. The first thing I did was call my mom and dad to share the news. They were overjoyed and immensely proud of me.”

Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.

My journey has been filled with numerous memorable achievements. One of my proudest moments was making Penryn’s first team in grade 9, which marked the beginning of my soccer career.

In 2019, while attending Uplands College, I was honoured with the Best Player of the Year award. The following year, I transferred to Cornerstone College and won the top goal scorer award for the under-15/17 team. Last year, I was not only named Player of the Year but also had the privilege of captaining the first team. Leading my team was an incredible and a significant personal achievement.

Have your teammates helped you improve?

My teammates have had a huge impact on my growth as a footballer. Every training session and match with them pushes me to sharpen my skills, improve my decision-making, and stay mentally strong. Beyond the physical aspect, they’ve also shown me how to handle setbacks and celebrate victories together, making me a better player and person overall.

Here are some words of encouragement for aspiring football players.

“Keep chasing your dreams with passion and determination. Every step back is a step forward on your journey, greatness doesn't come overnight, be humble. Never stop learning.”

The whole of Penryn wish Mbuso all the best with his journey ahead!
